Neva Bergemann
is a painter and printmaker who has been living on the island of Paros,
Greece since 1997. She holds a Master's degree in art education and
a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing from the University
of Minnesota. Neva has been teaching art to both young students
and adults for over 12 years. She has held classes for beginners as
well as advanced students in the areas of oil painting, watercolor,
drawing, printmaking and clay.
She has also exhibited her artwork internationally and in various regions of
the United States. Neva enjoys working and teaching in more than one medium and has a wide variety of experience. As an artist who enjoys change, she is flexible and considers her choice of medium to be as important as each idea or image being created. Each medium whether it be watercolor, monotype or oil has its own expressive quality. There is a certain beauty and strength in a simple line etch. There are layered, translucent features of an oil painting and a distinctive quality of light and absorption which results from the markings of a monotype print. None of these characteristics are easily duplicated in the other. Therefore, this artist believes for herself that it is essential to be able to choose between media rather than be tied to only one. artwork, go to the Gallery section.
